This is just entirely for fun! I am huge fan of the Dying Light games 1 and 2, I have The Beast installed on my PS5, which I haven’t played The Beast yet! This game series got me soooo hooked that once, I played the entire night till dawn unknowingly. To be honest, zombie games and apocalyptic-strong games are never my cup of tea. I have tried Last of Us but I just stopped playing it once. But Dying Light ——- even that decade-old game still rocks me!

This got me really interested in their color grading especially the Harran Sunset. I’ve even set my Dying Light 2 color profile into Harran Sunset. The strong orange tones of the sunset not only gives this very strong and heavy feeling of anticipating the darkness that comes after, but also that fleeting moment that you want to savor and stay longer until you realize you’re getting closer to the nightmare. It’s like the grand ultimate sunset I see every time I play Dying Light 1.

Strong orange saturation… That’s something I have to work on. On top of that, keeping an eye on locations where I feel it resembles some places in The Slum (Harran). Such as this one which is somewhere along Suzhou Creek in Shanghai.

This crane reminds me of those construction sites where Kyle Crane (yes, crane) would parkor, or, let’s just say, where I would be chased by virals and I have to keep running high, literally. The streaks in the sky adds more detail to the entire scene.

I pushed the yellow and adjust the hue to orange-ish yellow while at the same time oversaturating the orange as well.

Somewhere in Pudong, I saw this establishment – worn down, just right next to some rubbles – the accordion door!!! Looks familiar? That’s where I got a King!!!

The light at the end of the tunnel…

For this one, I even turned the school where I am teaching into a safe zone! Check out the UV lights! 😀

Finally, my favorite, sunsets are such a nice view to see – even the zombies watch that and you wouldn’t get bothered by them as you pass by these creatures watching the sunset. A fallen barricade on the ground, with seemingly empty road creates the scene towards the tunnel!

I feel it’s a fun and creative way to explore a different genre of photography. I am still on look out for similar places, and even thinking having a model to create a different story while keeping the scene as close as the scenes of my favorite PS5 games.

I’ll definitely update with my further explorations! As long as “the God-damn switch” doesn’t break down, I’ll keep clicking the Clicker. Stay tuned.
